5 Things to Consider Before Buying a Toddler Bed Sheet

In purchasing a set for your precious one, some things should be considered before buying:

1. Size of the bed

Just like buying a bed sheet for an adult bed, you must know the dimension of the bed. In adult terms, is it double, queen or king? Take the measurement with you when going to the mall so that you'll have a ready reference.

2. Boy or girl?

Almost all things bought for the baby are related to the baby's gender-from the color of the walls to the toys surrounding the bed, to the mobile hanging happily above the crib. You shouldn't make an exception when buying a bed sheet for your toddler. Normally, it's pink for the girls and blue for the boys. However, if you plan to use it in the future for a baby whose gender you don't know yet, try to buy neutral but still fun colors such as light green, peach, or purple. It should save you lots of money in the future and it will also eliminate the possibility of starting over again.

3. Design

Although you've chosen pink, it shouldn't mean that you need to have a plain design. Choose characters or playful prints. Your baby will at one point puke, drool or poop on it, so choose something which could blend with it all. This shouldn't sacrifice though the cleanliness of the sheets.

4. Material used

Depending on where you live, you should consider the weather and climate when buying a bed sheet for your baby. For those living in tropical countries, cotton is the best choice. It feels cool when it's hot and feels warm when it's cold. It perfectly adjusts to not-so-extreme temperature. However, when you live in a country where it snows, materials like corduroy or suede are the best choice for your toddler.

5. Softness

Let the bed sheet serve its primary purpose-and that is to give the utmost comfort for your baby. Not all beds have the perfect mattress; therefore, make it up to your little one by cushioning him or her with soft, multi-layer bed sheets. Different levels of softness are available. You just have to know what fits your baby perfectly.

All babies have different needs and as a parent, you'll be able to figure out later on what's best for your little one. Your first bed sheet set may not be perfect but at least, you'll know better the next time you hit the mall and search for a colorful, soft, and comfortable bed sheet for your baby.
